Solitary Reflections

Going on the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour by myself was a very contemplative and introspective experience. I was surrounded in a calm stillness as the helicopter rose into the clean Himalayan air, cut off from the outside world. I was able to think on the grandeur of nature and the insignificance of personal concerns in the context of the Himalayas as a result of the expansive vistas of the majestic peaks below. Moments of calm reflection were accentuated by the contemplative music created by the rhythmic humming of the helicopter blades. Encircled by the lofty peaks, I experienced a deep sense of connectedness to the planet and a revitalized admiration for the ability of solitude to promote self-discovery.
